My heart aches a bit when I admit this, but arts and crafts have not been a part of my life since my injury 9 months ago. Arts and crafts were such a huge part of my life before my injury. My free time was spent sewing, scrap-booking and painting.
I so desperately wanted to get back into it, but for some reason it felt forced.. I had been feeling like I had lost a part of myself when I got injured. Everything felt very heavy, there was a lot of pain and I would get depressed, sad and I honestly just felt "damaged". It was easier to wipe that part out of my life than to work through the pain and heartache.
I had lost the creative part of myself. I now realize that it is one of my most favorite things about myself and I am not giving it up again. A few weeks ago I decided to surprise my friend with a girls night. I didn't know what I was going to do but I wanted it to be something that would be a healing outlet for both of us. I decided to take her to Bottle and Bottega (A BYOB art class) and it was a blast! It was the first time I had picked up a paint brush in 9 months and it felt like I was coming home. I have been painting since I was in the 6th grade and it was so nice to unleash my creativity again. It was awesome to spend time with my friend and both create a beautiful, one of a kind painting!

I am so thankful to my friend Ashley for being there for me during difficult times and I am so appreciative of her for coming with me and exploring her creativity with me!
Until next time...
